Tom Stringer founded his eponymous multi-disciplinary firm more than 20 years ago in Chicago to conceive and deliver unique design solutions for residences, restaurants, and yachts around the globe. A world traveler and inveterate shopper, Stringer’s expertise reflects both his formal education in classical architecture and his personal passion for exotic travel. Stringer and his expert team masterfully weave together antiques, contemporary furniture, original art, and ethnographic elements with the client’s personality and passions to produce serene environments imbued with distinct character. In every case, Tom Stringer Design Partners composes residential and commercial sanctuaries that offer its inhabitants sustainable beauty, real comfort and lasting interest.
Stringer anticipates bringing his global sensibility to original product design, expecting to debut integrated collections of furniture, fabric, and accessories in 2019, following the publication of his first book, a compendium of his world travels, personal photography and observations intermingled with over half a dozen of his most unique projects.
Inducted into the Merchandise Mart Hall of Fame for Interior Design in 2015 and named to House Beautiful Top 100 Interior Designers since 2003, Stringer and his firm have been widely lauded for their classical, contemporary designs, including eleven design excellence awards from the American Society of Interior Designers.
Stringer holds a Bachelor’s degree in design from the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Arizona State University and began his career working for Charles Pfister designing product for Baker Furniture, Brown Jordan, and Casella Lighting. He served as Design Director for the renowned Chicago firm Branca, Inc. before forming Tom Stringer Design Partners in 1995.
Tom is an associate member of the International Interior Design Association, sits on the Board of Directors of Designers Axis, is a member of the Executive Cabinet of The Leaders of Design Council and is Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Northlight Theatre.
