For a young family recently transplanted to New Canaan, Connecticut, Sara designed a house filled with spirited interiors carefully conceived for family living and entertaining. The decision to forfeit a formal dining room in lieu of a large family room gave Sara the opportunity to organize the living room with seating groups that suit all scales of entertaining. To bring the outdoors in, she stenciled the walls with a pattern abstracted from the shapes of the trees visible through the windows.
