For Sara, multiculturalism is more than a design ethos, it's simply her life. Brought up amidst an international milieu in Washington, DC; Istanbul, Turkey; and Maine, her signature love of color and east-meets-west eye is more inborn instinct than acquired aesthetic. Now based in New York City, Sara brings the world home to her clients. Her sensitive design approach takes a genuine interest in the everyday details of her clients' lives, translating their desires into unique homes that are truly their own.

Since founding Sara Bengur Interiors in 1993, Sara has designed residential and retail interiors all over the country and beyond, including New York, the Hamptons, Connecticut, Maine, Florida, Montana, and the French West Indies. Her work has been featured in prestigious publications such as Elle Décor, The New York Times, and Architectural Digest. She is also the recipient of numerous design awards, and ranks among House Beautiful’s coveted "America's Top 125 Interior Designers."

Over the years, Sara has also dedicated her talents in service of others. Among her philanthropic projects are the Woodycrest House, an apartment building for women with HIV/AIDS and their children, and Marcello Manor, which provides homes for low income domestic violence survivors. Currently, she is working on a collaboration with Anatolian Artisans, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving low-income women artisans and raising awareness about the arts and culture of Turkey.
