Designed by John Gilmer Architect, Inc.

Originally designed by noted mid-century modernist architect Hugh Kaptur, who built houses for Steve McQueen and William Holden, this house was stripped back to its original bones and rethought by designer John Gilmer. Featuring archetypal mid-century glass walls facing poolside, a surprising tilted fireplace, and a color scheme of mostly white with pops of red, orange and aqua, the sculptural forms of iconic mid-century furniture and warm woods anchor the light-filled interiors of this classic Palm Springs Modernist abode.

The swooping arc floor lamp and whorled sputnik chandelier are classic mid-century lighting forms. Wire side chairs and barstools are a part of the 1952 wire design collection by Harry Bertoia for Knoll. Clusters of primary-colored mid-century ceramics add energetic notes, while organic textures such as the cowhide rug and rosewood wall unit evoke warmth.

In the bedroom, a classic Arredoluce three-arm "Triennale" floor lamp  by designer Angelo Lelli serves a both lighting and sculpture in this minimalist vignette. A wooden twist side table and mid-century lounge chair and ottoman, with cocoa and natural toned hide rug complete the tableau.
