Mary Foley and Michael Cox, principals of the New York-based firm Foley & Cox Interiors, have been designing sumptuous spaces, both domestically and abroad, for over fifteen years. From stately residential projects to yachts and private aircraft interiors, Foley & Cox creates distinctive spaces that are incredibly elegant yet approachable. Recognized for its style and versatility, the firm believes that working closely with clients -- taking cues from their perceptions, preferences, and passions -- is the key to creating comfortably luxurious living environments. Because these bespoke interiors are infused with the client’s own personality, tastes, and style, they instantly become the most personal of places -- home.

Mary and Michael both possess a wealth of knowledge when it comes to furniture design, customized color palettes, and interior architecture. The pair met while working at Polo/Ralph Lauren, where Mary served as a Vice President in Creative Services,  coordinating special events and designing showrooms, storefronts, and a number of Ralph Lauren’s palatial homes, and Michael worked in various Home divisions, refining his technical knowledge of manufacturing furniture, fabric, wallpaper, lighting, and paint. As Design Director of furniture, Michael broadened his historical understanding and expertise in countries as diverse as Indonesia, England, Bali, France, Chile, and the Philippines. Eventually, Michael and Mary were brought together to form Ralph Lauren Interiors and in 2002, they launched Foley & Cox Interiors. In addition to their interior design firm, Mary and Michael oversee Foley & Cox Home, a storefront in Hudson, New York, that features European and American antique furniture, contemporary art, and unique accessories, as well as custom Foley & Cox-designed upholstered furniture. Foley & Cox’s work has earned praise in major publications, including Architectural Digest, Town & Country, New York Home, Hamptons Cottages and Gardens, Shelter Interiors, and AD Germany.

Mary and Michael browsed InCollect and selected their must-have pieces. “These are some of the items we’re dying to find a home for in our upcoming projects,” they said. Among their top picks are masterpieces of mid century modern furniture, including a walnut cocktail table by George Nakashima, a lacquered credenza by Tommi Parzinger, and several chairs designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar; a William Spratling silver flatware set in the “Artesanos” pattern; classic Chippendale furniture, including a drop leaf dining table from the eighteenth century; and a hand colored silver bromide photograph of a ship, which resembles a marine painting.
