Mark your calendars—the Palm Beach Show Group has added a brand new event to its ever-expanding roster of art, antiques, and jewelry fairs. The Florida-based company, which organizes a plethora of fairs stretching from coast to coast, including the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show, the Baltimore Art, Antique & Jewelry Show, and the LA Art Show, will debut the Miami Beach Jewelry & Antiques Show this winter.

Held February 2-5, 2017, the Miami Beach Jewelry & Antiques Show will coincide with south Florida’s social season, when the region is abuzz with deep-pocketed dignitaries in town for galas, charity events or simply a little sunshine. According to Andrea Canady, Director of Business Development for the Palm Beach Show Group, the company decided to establish the fair to accommodate a growing number of dealers who want to be in Miami Beach during the busy winter months. The fair will be followed by two of the Palm Beach Show Group’s most anticipated events—The Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show (February 15-21, 2017) and the Naples Art, Antique & Jewelry Show (February 24-28, 2017).

The inaugural Miami Beach Jewelry & Antiques Show will be held at the Deauville Beach Resort—one of Miami Beach’s most stunning mid-century gems. Designed by the architect Melvin Grossman in 1957, the stylish beachfront hotel was a favorite haunt among the Old Hollywood set, including Judy Garland, Betty Grable, and Buster Keaton. The resort remains a favorite among celebrities and is frequently used as a venue for art fairs, including Art on Paper and Miami Project, thanks to its chic aesthetic.

Scott Diament, CEO of the Palm Beach Show Group, says, “As with all of our shows, the decision to launch the Miami Beach Jewelry & Antiques Show was dealer driven. Many exhibitors have contacted us over the past four to five months asking to do an event right on Miami Beach. Part of that was precipitated by a long-running show that recently moved off of the beach. Dealers had been doing that show for forty, fifty years and wanted to stay in the same general location. So, we went out there and looked up and down the beach until we found the Deauville Resort, which we’re really excited about. We try to grow the Show Group based on what dealers are asking for—this way we have a built-in client base for participation. We expect to have about 140 exhibitors at the show with many countries represented.”

Among the exhibitors who have already committed to the Miami Beach Jewelry & Antiques Show are Camilla Dietz Bergeron, J.S. Fearnley, Pat Saling, Benchmark of Palm Beach, Jacob’s Diamonds, D.K. Bressler & Company, Lillian Nassau, and Macklowe Gallery. In addition to all categories of jewelry, including vintage, estate, Art Deco, and contemporary pieces, the Miami Beach Jewelry & Antiques Show will feature a stunning selection of fine art, antique furniture, and important decorative objects.

News that the Palm Beach Show Group had launched the Miami Beach Show was quickly followed by an announcement that the company had acquired the long-running Palm Beach Fine Craft Show. The event was previously owned by Elizabeth Kubie, who will act as a consultant to the Palm Beach Show Group as it takes the reigns. Diament says, “Elizabeth was retiring and I was asked if I would like to acquire what she had built over the past thirty-plus years. It seemed like a no-brainer. If you read about what’s going on in the industry today, fine craft and design are at the cutting-edge and will remain so through 2017, 2018, 2019, and beyond.”

The Palm Beach Fine Craft Show, which runs February 26-28, 2017, will be collocated with the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The four-day, juried event will feature over 150 artists. Diament says, “The fact that it’s a juried show will ensure that the work being shown is of the highest quality.” The Palm Beach Fine Craft Show will be preceded by the Baltimore Fine Craft Show, held August 25-28, 2016, at the Baltimore Convention Center. The latter event will be collocated with the Baltimore Art, Antique & Jewelry Show.
