STUDIO SPOTLIGHT

PIA MARIA RAEDER was born in 1978 in Germany. After earning a degree in political science, and working as a TV reporter, her creative yearnings and the will to inscribe her work in the long term led to a radical life change. After studying as an apprentice with a craftsman, she decided to dedicate herself to experimenting with shapes and materials, seeking inspiration for her designs from the natural world. From simple beechwood sticks, which are individually cut, sanded, arranged and then painted, Pia Maria Raeder creates functional, strikingly biomorphic sculptures. Pia Maria Raeder’s “Sea Anemones” collection is produced exclusively for Galerie BSL, Paris, France, available to view on Incollect.
