A perennial favorite among the Nantucket set as well as collectors from across the country, the Antiques & Design Show of Nantucket will feature forty distinguished exhibitors offering American and European art, antique furniture, decorative objects, folk art, garden accessories, and much more. Exhibitor Paul Vandekar of Earle D. Vandekar of Knightsbridge (NY) said, “ Nantucket is one of the greatest places in America...and the Nantucket Show draws a very strong collecting group. The dealers know this and they always bring great things. It may not be the biggest show, but it’s definitely one of the most interesting...we do eighteen shows a year and Nantucket is generally the best of the year for us.” In addition to Vandekar, other must-see exhibitors at this year’s show include Jeff R. Bridgman American Antiques (PA), Fletcher/Copenhaver Fine Art (VA), Vose Galleries, LLC (MA), and Nantucket’s own Sylvia Antiques (MA).

Interior design will be a predominant subject at this year’s show and a number of events will explore the importance of incorporating antiques into contemporary design. The design-related events will kick off with the NHA Designer Luncheon featuring the New York-based interior designer Katie Ridder on Wednesday, July 29. Held at the Great Harbor Yacht Club, the Designer Luncheon will feature a champagne reception and a multimedia presentation by the designer followed by a Q+A session. Ridder, who is known for her bold use of color and eye for striking decorative accents, has worked with a number of clients on Nantucket. The Designer Luncheon Chair Mary-Adair Macaire said, “Linking antiques with interior design is something natural, especially when one considers the island's rich heritage and the many generations of families who have lived within the walls of our old homes and passed on precious or practical objects. As a regular attendee of many of NHA's wonderful events, I consider it a privilege to participate in this one. Katie Ridder is already familiar with Nantucket through the clients for whom she has designed fabulous interiors on-island.”

The luncheon will be followed by a Designer Panel moderated by the renowned interior designer Susan Zises Green on Friday, July 31. Guests can expect to gain insight into the important relationship between antiques and design from some of the country’s top interior designers, including Suzanne Kasler, Amanda Lindroth, Charlotte Moss, Matthew Patrick Smyth, and Suzanne Tucker. Smyth, who is based in New York, said, “The addition of antiques is what separates a room from all others. It can take a space to a different level, adding instant character and quality. [The key is to] Keep it simple and don't overthink it. Only use the best quality as it will stand on its own in a contemporary setting.”

The Antiques & Design Show of Nantucket Opening Night Party will take place on Thursday, July 30, offering all guests a sneak peek of the show’s impressive offering before its official opening on Friday.
