Bertil Brisborg

Swedish
Bertil Brisborg (1910–1993) was a Swedish architect and designer who led the lighting department at Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) from the 1940s to the 1960s. He became a key figure in the Swedish Modern movement, creating table lamps, floor lamps, pendants, and custom lighting for public and private interiors. Brisborg’s designs are known for their functionalist forms and refined use of materials such as brass, leather, and glass, and his innovative approach to incorporating leather into lighting fixtures during the 1940s. His mid-century lighting pieces remain highly collectible for their elegant simplicity and technical craftsmanship.
