Fredrik Kayser

Norwegian, 1924 - 1968
Fredrik Kayser (1924-1968) was a Norwegian furniture designer known for his functional and minimalist designs. He studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry, and later worked for several Norwegian furniture manufacturers before establishing his own design studio in the early 1950s.

Kayser's designs were characterized by their clean lines, simple forms, and emphasis on functionality. He often worked with natural materials such as wood and leather, and was particularly known for his chairs and seating designs, which were both comfortable and visually appealing.

One of Kayser's most famous designs is the "Siesta" chair, which was produced by the Norwegian furniture manufacturer Vatne Møbler in the 1960s. The chair features a sculptural wooden frame and a curved leather seat, and has become an icon of mid-century Norwegian design.

Kayser's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, and his designs continue to be highly sought-after by collectors and design enthusiasts.
