Jacob & Josef Kohn was an Austrian furniture company founded in 1849 in Vienna by Jacob Kohn and his son Josef. Renowned for its innovative bentwood furniture, the company became a leading competitor to Thonet and collaborated with prominent artists of the Vienna Secession and Wiener Werkstätte, including Josef Hoffmann. By the early 20th century, J. & J. Kohn operated internationally with showrooms across Europe and North America. The company later merged with Mundus and then Thonet, forming one of the largest furniture manufacturers of its time. Today, Jacob & Josef Kohn’s designs remain celebrated for their craftsmanship, elegance, and influence on modern furniture design.
