Danish
Poul Jensen (1922–1982) was a Danish furniture designer renowned for his innovative contributions to mid-century modern design. After apprenticing at Georg Petersens Møbelfabrik in Copenhagen and serving in the Danish Navy during World War II, he joined the FDB furniture company in 1949, where he began designing affordable modern furniture for the general public. In 1955, Jensen established his own design studio, collaborating with prominent companies such as Selig and Zoumboulakis. His Model 63 chair, created in 1963 for Selig, became an icon of modern Danish design, celebrated for its organic shape and curved backrest in teak or leather. Jensen's work exemplifies the Danish ethos of combining functionality with aesthetic simplicity, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of design.
