The Brazilian architect Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares Filho, known as Oscar Niemeyer was born in 1907. He is considered to be one of the key figures in the development of modern architecture-best known for his design of buildings in Brasilia and for his collaboration on the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. Niemeyer’s work is characterized by free flowing curves and the move away from straight lines.
