Stanley Furniture

American
Founded in 1924 by Thomas B. Stanley—who later served as the Governor of Virginia—Stanley Furniture began as a cornerstone of the American furniture industry in the community of Stanleytown, Virginia. Built on a foundation of integrity and craftsmanship, the company became a pioneer in making high-quality, architecturally significant designs accessible to the average American family. Stanley is particularly celebrated for its mid-century innovations, such as the "Waterfall" design and its "Distinctive Furniture" line, which featured collaborations with notable designers like John Cameron.

Throughout the mid-20th century, Stanley Furniture became a leader in the "California Modern" and "American Modern" movements, producing sought-after collections like the Finnline, American Forum, and Viking Oak series. Known for sculptural forms, clean lines, and the expert use of walnut, oak, and mahogany veneers, the brand's vintage pieces—especially those from the 1950s and 60s—remain highly collectible today. In 2024, celebrating its centennial anniversary, the brand underwent a major relaunch under new ownership, blending its rich American heritage with Nordic sustainability to create premium, "Centennial Craftsmanship" collections for the modern home.
