Pair of Italian Cast Bronze Lion Mask Architectural Elements, 19th century

Offered by: Babou New York

Description
Pair of Antique Cast Bronze Lion Mask Architectural Elements, 19th century

An expressive pair of heavy cast bronze architectural lion heads in high relief. Sculpted with roaring expressions, open jaws, and fluidly modeled manes, these sculptural elements demonstrate fine craftsmanship with a tactile, hand-modeled surface texture. The bronze displays a rich dark brown patina highlighted by natural verdigris (greenish oxidation) in the recesses, underscoring their authentic age and exposure. Designed for architectural mounting, such as fountain spouts, door accents, or wall plaques, each head includes mounting holes discreetly integrated behind the mane.
Italy, 19th century
