Arne Jacobsen “Cylinda-line” Brass Ashtray
-
Description
Designed in 1964, and manufactured by Stelton in 1967, this is a work of industrial art. The top elegantly spins and deposits the ashes into a chamber. Genius design by Arne Jacobsen. It is very rare to see this in brass - this version was only produced for a very short period in a limited edition. Amazing golden patina, with a touch of verdigris in the dish (can be polished if you prefer it to really shine). Smoke like a superstar! Functional art at its finest.
H. 6.5. Diam. 7.5 cm / 2.6" H x 3" Diam.
ARNE JACOBSEN: "Because he refused to compromise on design, we had to build the whole technology from scratch. At that time in the 60s, there was no experience with this cylindrical production method. Therefore, we had to invent it in order to produce Cylinda-line, as Arne saw it.” - Peter Holmblad, former owner of Stelton. -
