Description
Serene Buddha Statue carved from solid Teak wood. A Thai Buddha Statue intricately hand carved showing the "Contemplation Buddha" in Thailand known as the "Friday Buddha" (Pang Ram Pueng). A wonderful warm rustic patina revealing scars of age middle 20th century. In good solid condition.
The Buddha is standing with both arms crossed against the chest. The right hand is typically over the left, with palms facing inward towards the chest. The head upright with eyes slightly downward looking to self. The face is Gracious, Welcoming, Serene in thought. This pose symbolizes silent determination, tolerance, humility, and inner resolve. It represents a period of contemplation following enlightenment, a time of welcoming reflection and patience towards others. A gathering of self in mind at peace. One of the most beautiful carved Buddha Statues I have seen in my 29 years collecting. This piece was collected in Northern Thailand in 2002. -
