Description | Art Deco gilt bronze sculpture of the 'Theban Dancer' by CJR Colinet French, c. 1925 Height 55cm, width 59cm, depth 23cm The important French female sculptor Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet, beautifully made this Art Deco model using veined green marble and silvered and gilt bronze mounts. Known as the 'Theban Dancer', the figure is depicted in revealing dress performing a dance, with motifs throughout in the ancient Egyptian style. The figure is finely cast in bronze and set upon the marble base with relief bronze panel. The figure is stamped ‘94’ with the base inscribed ‘Cl. J. R. Colinet’. |
