Description
A poetic and highly collectible candle holder by renowned Mexican designer Emilia Castillo, handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico—an epicenter of Mexican silversmithing and design innovation. This sculptural piece is executed in fine porcelain and accented with pure silver detailing, reflecting Castillo’s signature fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistry.
The form is architectural and softly geometric, adorned with hand-drawn celestial motifs. Two stylized angels emerge across the surfaces, surrounded by scattered stars—evoking a narrative reminiscent of the guiding star of Bethlehem. The piece carries a quiet spiritual presence, making it both a functional object and a meaningful decorative accent.
Signed on the underside:
“Emilia Castillo, Plata, Mexico 02”, confirming authenticity and origin.
This work exemplifies the legacy of the Castillo family within the Taxco silver movement, following the tradition established by Los Castillo and William Spratling, while introducing Emilia Castillo’s distinctly modern and artistic voice.
Ideal for interior designers seeking sculptural tabletop accents, or collectors of Mexican Modernism, Taxco silver, and artisan ceramics, this piece brings warmth, narrative, and refined craftsmanship into any space—from curated shelves to serene bedside or altar-like settings.
