Description
Large swiveling globe in plastered cardboard covered with printed paper.
The meridian, attached to each pole, is in engraved brass. The base is in blackened turned wood.
The colors are slightly faded, but it is in very good condition, with no fractures or missing parts.
It is inscribed “Dressé par J Forest” etc…
Biography
Joseph Forest, born March 20, 1865 in Paris and died March 30, 1942, was a French geographer and cartographer.
In 1886, at 17-19 rue de Buci, he founded his own publishing house for maps and plans, world maps, globes, terrestrial and celestial spheres, charts and wall maps for educational use. He became a supplier to schools in 1889, approved by the Ministry of Public Instruction.
