Description In 1963 Craig Breedlove broke the land speed record in a jet powered car named 'The Spirit of America.' The car's design was based on a jet airplane body on wheels. Craig Breedlove was a professional race car driver and designed and built the Spirit of America himself. The car attained a speed over 400 miles an hour August the 5th 1963. The record attempt was sponsored by Shell Oil and Goodyear . Tony Webner was at the time head of Goodyear Racing and was instrumental in helping Breedlove get the record broken. In appreciation Craig Breedlove commissioned a small number of these trophies awarding them to the people that were important in achieving this World famous event.
We believe very few of these trophies were made and we do not know how many still exist today as we have never seen another.
