Description
Pair of monumental gilt bronze and glass floor standing candelabra
French, 20th Century
Height 230cm, diameter 100cm
Crafted in the Neoclassical style, this pair of floor-standing candelabra are supported by three-sided plinth-form ormolu bases, which narrow towards the tops. The bases sit on six small feet and are both decorated with scrolls, Apollo mask mounts within sunbursts, and foliate detailing.
The central column of each candelabrum is tapered and crafted from facet cut glass with further foliate ormolu bands. The ornate head features two tiers of scrolled branches with foliate detailing and a glass drip pan: six on the lower tier, six on the upper, and one central surmount. -
