Description
A Tiffany & Co. Pill Box in the shape of a miniature Train Case, designed and made by Karel Bartosik. Signed Tiffany & Co , KTB and London Hallmarks for sterling silver and 750 (for 18 k gold), c. 1988. The sterling pill box is a scaled miniature replica of a vintage train case, with its surface embossed to look like leather and embellished with 18 k gold used to represent the train case's hardware and handle. Incredible detailed workmanship. The handle is even movable. Bartosik was born in England of Czech and Dutch parents. Although Bartosik was born in England he lived in Czechoslovakia from 1946 to 1967. When he moved back to England he worked for Andrew Grima in London and later had his own studio while teaching at the Royal College of Art. His work is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, London. Aside from its utilitarian function as a pill box, this would make a superb addition for the Miniature Collector.
