Description
The designs of Märta Måås-Fjetterström are unparalled, and this piece is no exception. Her use of scale, color, and detailing in the weave is just so good - this small rug packs a huge punch. And, I love the title" "The Bud." Her abstract works of nature give a feeling of modernity to her designs, this work has such a great combination of yarns colors - check out the detailed images and you will see how special this little carpet really is. The colors are absolutely glorious. This particular work is a bit larger than her usual tapestry, making it work perfectly on the wall or use it as a small area rug - either way you will bring sophistication and grace to your space.
Märta Måås-Fjetterström designed some of the most important rugs of the 20th Century. The nature of the slopes of Hallandsåsen where she resided was a never-ending source of inspiration and with great artistic skill natural elements were stylized to get their chosen place in the rich but still fully controlled splendor that came to make up her carpets. Her geometric patterns are highly sought-after and show the influence of antique Persian patterns. Her designs are found in the world's leading museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The V&A, and National Museum in Stockholm. Often referred to as the "mother of carpets" her studio's work remains highly valued in the art markets today. -
