Hans Bergström (Sweden, 1910-1996): In 1942, together with his wife Verna, Bergstrom funded ateljé Lyktan, a company dedicated to designing and manufacturing innovative lighting fixtures. Bergström's designs, celebrated for their inventive use of materials and sleek, modern aesthetics, earned him collaborations with prominent architects and designers. Hans Bergström's journey evolved from strict functionalism to creating decorative luminaire models, and eventually to experimenting with revolutionary new materials. This innovation liberated Bergström as a sculptor, offering him new creative possibilities. As a lighting architect, Bergström believed that light should not be confined within a dull shade but should shimmer behind folded chintz fabric, acrylic, or glass; in his words, "The light should be white and shine freely." -
