Description
This Mid-Century Modernist Scavo glass centerpiece bowl, crafted in Murano, Italy, circa 1980, is a brilliant example of Venetian glass artistry and technical innovation. Hand-blown by master glassmakers, the bowl features a fluted and footed form, elevating it as both a sculptural object and a functional piece.
The Scavo technique, which mimics the weathered, textured appearance of excavated ancient glass, gives the bowl its unique matte surface with a soft, subtly distressed finish. This handcrafted effect imbues the piece with a sense of antiquity while remaining firmly modern in form. The delicate fluting of the bowl’s edge adds an airy elegance, while the footed base provides structural balance and a touch of refinement.
Versatile in use and design, this centerpiece bowl is equally suited for serving, display, or as a standalone decorative object. Its timeless aesthetic bridges ancient craftsmanship with contemporary sensibilities, making it an ideal accent for modern interiors. In excellent condition, this Murano Scavo glass bowl showcases the unparalleled creativity and expertise of Italian glassmakers from the era. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
