Aaron Lyons Contemporary Glass Mosaic Triptych in Blackened Steel Frames

Description
A striking contemporary mosaic triptych by Texas designer Aaron Lyons, composed of three tall, architectural panels meticulously arranged with hundreds of individual glass tiles. Lyons creates a rhythmic abstract composition through vertical passages of fiery red, orange, golden yellow, charcoal gray, and black, with the saturated glass dramatically contrasted against matte black grout.
Each mosaic is housed within a substantial blackened steel frame, giving the work an industrial, architectural presence that complements the precision of the tiled composition. Rather than mounting conventionally against the wall, the three panels are designed to float away from the surface, creating depth and allowing light and shadow to become part of the installation.
Of particular note is Lyons' artist-designed integrated mounting system. Exposed stainless-steel rods and custom fabricated industrial brackets extend above and below each panel, functioning simultaneously as structural hardware and as an intentional element of the work's design. The juxtaposition of jewel-like glass, darkened steel, and polished metal gives the triptych a distinctly modernist character while emphasizing its construction and materiality.
The three panels are conceived as a unified composition, with colors and patterns moving from one panel to the next while each retains its own individual arrangement. Viewed from an angle, the depth of the steel frames and their separation from the wall further transform the work from a conventional mosaic into a sculptural wall installation.
Each panel: 9 3/4 in. W × 32 1/2 in. H
Overall Dimensions as shown including hardware: 31.5"W x 60"H x 2"D
Materials: Glass mosaic tile, matte black grout, blackened steel, stainless steel and fabricated mounting hardware
Designer/Artist: Aaron Lyons, Texas
A compelling marriage of mosaic, sculpture, and industrial design, with an especially strong architectural presence when installed as a complete triptych. The spacing can be adjusted to suit your needs. -
