Description
Josep Amat i Pages Spanish 1901-1991, Catalan painter of landscapes.
"The Beach," circa 1933, oil on linen, signed "Amat" lower right. Provenance: Private Collection, USA, Sala Pares Gallery, Est.1840, Barcelona, Spain.
Amat's paintings during this period met with critical acclaim. His paintings won prizes at the Exposiciones Nacionales de Bella Artes in Madrid and Barcelona and the American Art Biennials in Madrid and Havana. In 1997 Barcelona dedicated a park in his honor, Jardins de Josep Amat. His work is in the collections of the Museu Nacional d"Art de Catalunya, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and Fundacion Amyc.
