Set of four portraits of the Illig family by Jacob Maentel

$ 55,000
  • Description
    An extraordinary survival, this group of four portraits depicting members of the Illig family was painted in 1833 for the marriage of Elisabeth Illig to Jacob Schoch. In addition to the newlywed couple, the bride’s brother, Jonathan Illig, and her mother Catharine Waechter Illig are depicted. The Illig family lived in the Millbach area of Heidelberg Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. The portraits retain what appear to be their original period frames.
