Unsigned
Oil on canvas
16 ½” x 12,” 24” x 19” (frame).
Over-all in fine condition, lined canvas on original white pine stretcher. Housed in a 19th c. style gilt frame.
Provenance: Private collection, Massachusetts; Eldred’s Auction, East Dennis, Massachusetts.
This wonderful arrangement of flowers in a vase placed on a stone ledge is reminiscent of Dutch still life paintings. During the mid-19th century, some American artists were inspired by this, as seen here in this still life. -
