Still Life Flowers and Fruit.
Signed (l.l.): ”Robie”.
Oil on panel.
23 1/2 x 28 1/4”.

Jean Baptiste Robie was known for his floral still lives of all types but was ‘master’ of the rose. While also painting landscapes, his recognition came from floral studies. He debuted at the Salon de Brussels in 1843 and exhibited there through 1875. Robie lived much of his time in London, exhibiting at the Royal Academy while traveling to Italy, Spain Germany, France, Egypt, Palestine, Syria and India. His paintings are included in museum collections in Brussels, Ghent, Boston, Brooklyn, Hamburg, Minnnepolis, Sydney and the Uffizi in Florence. -
