Jillian Dyson "Sailing Long Island Sound" 2014

Sailing Long Island Sound is a recent work by well traveled artist Jillian Dyson. It dipicts a breezy day on Long Island Sound with a host of sail boats enjoying the brisk breeze and sun filled day. Oil on canvas executed in 2014; signed and dated lower left. It is housed in a custom pewter gilt frame measuring 37 by 43 inches. Jillian Dyson grew up in New Zealand's Bay of Islands. At the age of twenty Dyson set off to Europe to pursue her artist's career and eventually settled in Florence, Italy. It wasn't long before a series of galleries came calling including the well known gallery, liberty of London. Later Dyson moved to Sydney,. Australia where she was commissioned to paint the portraits of Sir Peter Ables and Alan Bond of America's Cup fame. In 1996 she became the resident artist for Antipodes Gallery in Katonah, New York. Soon after she moved from Sydney to New York and settled in her present residence in Greenwich, Connecticut.
