Description
A stunning abstract painting by Australian Aboriginal artist Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa (also known as Mrs. Bennett; 1935-2013). Acrylic on Belgium Linen and painted in 2006. Untitled, the earthy colors and the composition depicts a dreamtime landscape that belongs to the artist's ancestors during the Creation. The geometrical shape symbolizes various sacred geological features such as sand dunes and rock holes that holds water. The abstract representation of the land is nothing but mesmerizing. The painting is housed in a custom thin black wood frame.
Inscribed verso the catalog number and artist's name; The work is accompanied by six progress photos as well as the COAs from the Australian gallery where the painting was originally purchased in 2006 (as shown in the detail photos).

Brief Biography:
Born c.1935, Nyuapaiya Nampitjinpa was instrumental in the development of the Haasts Bluff/Kintore Women's Painting Camp in 1994. She inherited her mother's dreamings, which are connected to sites at Yumarra, Wantjunga and Tjalilli, rockholes near Papunya, Pukara, Ngalkinginga and Munkara. She passed away in 2013. -
