Orion as a celestial phenomena plays a significant role in the belief structure of Mayan and Aztec society along with societies such as the Chicoans and others within the Anasazi Southwest. Perhaps this painting's strong coloration and ephemeral structures call upon those associations.
The artwork measures 43 x 31" and is archivally mounted in a 49 x 37" frame.
