Description
Delicately painted oil on canvas painting by the French artist, Prosper Rotge. Circa 1955. Signed lower left. Titled In pencil on upper stretcher bar verso and signed again. Good condition. Beautifully framed in wood, gesso and gilt frame. Overall framed measurements are 16.5 by 22 inches.
Prosper ROTGE
Born in 1895 in Caen (Calvados). Died in 1969. XXth Century. French
Painter of portraits, landscapes, still lifes, draftsman, illustrator, poster artist.
He was a pupil of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, in the studio of Fernand Cormon. He exhibited in Paris, the Salon of French Artists, which he was a member, and the Salon des Humoristes, from 1925 to 1935. -
