Description
"Harlem River Eclipse", Rebecca Allan, Color Field Acrylic on Canvas Painting
$6,475.00
This elegant and compelling modernist color field painting was realized by the esteemed contemporary artist Rebecca Allan in the United States circa 2017. Rendered in an expressionistic style- full of dynamism and verve- the piece entitled "Harlem River Eclipse" expresses (as the title suggests) both the frenetic energy of New York City and the sublimity of the natural world. Allan combines architectonic blocks of cement gray with fleshy pinks conjuring the urban jungle of Harlem (and Manhattan), but combines them with soothing hues of moss, seafoam and dusky blues bringing to mind the palate of a river scape. The painting is rendered in a mixture of gestural energetic strokes and meditative blocks of color- once again consecrating the dichotomy between serenity, nature and energized urban life. With its sophisticated palate, masterful paint handling, and sophisticated composition, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of modern and contemporary art as well as those with a penchant for all things exquisite. The piece comes presented in a custom gallery frame and is in excellent condition.
