Description
Landscape View of Trees in a Meadow
Signed (l.l.): R. H. Fuller, ca. 1863-1875
Oil on canvas, Original carved gilt frame
16” x 24”, 27 ½” x 35”
Over-all in great condition, early lining
Provenance: Private Collection, Boston area
Fuller was known for both his landscape and portrait paintings. Although he was primarily self-taught, he had a keen ability to paint calming panoramic landscape scenes usually with subordinate figures, as seen here. Fuller exhibited at the Boston Athenaeum and the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston) in 1863, 1864, 1875. The label on verso indicates that this was one of those paintings exhibited. -
