Description
Richard Stone Reeves (1919-2005) limited edition (184/500) offset color lithographic print, portrait of the famous Thoroughbred "Ribot". Ribot was an unbeaten winner of sixteen races, European Champion in 1955 and 1956, winner of the "Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe" twice, and leading international sire. Ribot was foaled in 1952 by Tenerani-Romanella and soon went on to fame. In this portrait he is shown as an international sire based in Ireland and owned by the Marchese Incisa della Rochetta and Mme. Donna Lydia Tesio.
Reeves painted this portrait of Ribot in Ireland in 1967. Frost & Reed, his exclusive British agents, published this limited edition print in 1968 in London, and Reeves signed it in pencil in the lower right margin. The former owner of the print had it matted and framed under glass with quality materials and workmanship in the same year.
American artist Richard Stone Reeves was one of the 20th century's best equine artists. Many of his paintings and prints are owned by the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga, New York.
The dimensions below include the frame. The photos are dark and were taken with the print under glass, but the print itself is bright, unblemished, and the margins are white. - More Information
