Art Deco Period Cold-Painted Metal Sculpture of Man Hammering Bronze circa 1930s

$ 1,620
  • Description
    An interesting work from the art deco period, this decorative sculpture depicts the Age of Bronze and man's domination over metal. The work is executed in spelter which has been cold-painted and patinated to resemble the verdigris effect on aged bronze, the figure situated over a polished black slate base. Beautifully sculpted, the figure has a hammered and textured skin that provides a striking effect. It is signed on the slate G. Hervor and retains an old label from a gallery in France.

    Measurements: 15 5/8" H x 18 3/4" W x 7 1/8" D [overall dimensions]

    Condition Report:
    Minor scuffs to slate, tiny chip to edge of slate, original patina in overall very good condition.
