Description
Colombian Female Artist Monica Garces creates a dynamic Green Gorilla out of PVS Resin that communicates the energy of the beast but with an element of play and fun. The bold colors drive visual impact while blurring the lines between street art and traditional representational sculpture. The work is constructed from distinct layers that characterize its unique kinetic style. Signed on verso
Gorilla Power is a layered sculpture in PVC encapsulated in resin, built incrementally and sealed to a high-gloss finish. Openwork passages and voids articulate volume and depth; a dominant palette of greens and yellows with black splatter marks; and crystallized accents that trace edges and internal rhythms. The frontal stance—with an open mouth —asserts power and presence; the cut torso reads as a stylized ribcage, transforming negative space into form.
Process is integral to the result: approximately 48-hour cures between layers and a total build time of around 60 days yield optical density and structural resilience. Without narrative excess, the work states itself plainly: a patient, technical construction that turns color, sheen, and relief into a figure that
commands the room.
