Description
Framed: 10.75" w x 10" h
In a fine carved and gilded frame
This sheet is probably by the same hand as the unpublished drawing, “Two butterflies and another insect,” on paper in the Rijksprentenkabinet, Rijkmuseum, Amsterdam (inv. no. 1921:180), monogrammed P.B.F (Pieter Barbiers Fecit). Barbiers’s style includes his subtle definition of form, and a sensitive, natural way of drawing antennae, which contribute to an overall soft quality, which can be seen in this sheet. -
