Description
Warren Fischer watercolor landscape painting signed and Dated 1962
Offered for sale is an original watercolor landscape painting by the American artist Warren Fischer (1943-2001) that is signed and dated 1962. The painting is displayed in a vintage frame of the period.
Fischer earned a BFA from the University of New Mexico in 1966 with a major in painting and a minor in art history. Returning to Florida, his permanent residence since 1951, he continued postgraduate art studies at Florida State University. From 1976 through 1981 Warren and his family lived aboard their sailboat and traveled throughout the Florida Keys and Bahamas. During this time Warren changed from oil to acrylic; acrylic being better suited for shipboard life. His artistic development grew as he combined his observations of light and water with figure studies. ln 1981 Warren and his family purchased a home in Miami but remained connected to the sea. Warren began painting large canvases in acrylic while returning to his studies in oil. Warren passed in 2001.
"l am concerned with the immediacy of the brush strokes and the physical gestures producing them which lead to smaller 'painted worlds' making up the total image. When I paint, l feel as if I've turned off my mind, and I am directly impinging on the canvas revealing small areas of ideas and possibilities which constitute the whole finished visual experience."
"Some of my paintings show humans placed beside animals symbolizing our shared interrelated and primordial beginnings. Both creatures stare blindly outward toward an incomprehensible, vast, and indifferent universe.". -
