Description
“La Chasse”, a 4 part floor standing folding screen by Jean Dunand, was commissioned by Herbert Fleishhacker in 1930. It incorporates many of the techniques that were so beautifully executed by Dunand. There is incised decoration in the form of a spider web in the first panel. There is egg shell inlay in the dogs, horse and rider’s britches. And there is gold gilt in several areas. The detailing in the foliage is extraordinary. The incised Jean Dunand signature is in the lower right corner of the fourth panel. All these elements come together to form a magnificent piece of decorative art.
