Italian Tuscan Art Deco Carved Oak Sideboard or Credenza, circa 1940

$ 18,000
  • Description
    A charming and beautiful Tuscan hand-carved oak credenza or side board, circa 1940.

    The piece displays excellent craftsmanship combined with an eye for composition and functionality. The whole case with four doors, each with raised panels; the front two doors open with a key, with fanciful brass scrolled escutcheon and each hold a single shelf. The front doors display hand-carvings of a donkey on the left and mouflon sheep on the right. The two corner doors on either end display carvings of elegant birds sitting atop branches and open with a turned oak knob. The color and depth of the oak is rich and warm and the carvings whimsical and charming; including the scrolled apron atop angled legs which mimic the angles of the side doors. A rare and unique piece. In excellent condition.
