Description
An exquisite Mid-Century Modernist sconce, crafted with hand-blown Murano fluted Pulegoso glass and complemented by reeded brass fittings, designed by Barovier y Toso, Italy, circa 1960. This sconce represents the timeless artistry and craftsmanship synonymous with Murano glassmaking and the renowned Barovier y Toso legacy.
The sconce features Pulegoso glass, a hallmark of Murano craftsmanship characterized by its lightly bubbled texture, achieved through unique glassblowing techniques. The fluted design adds an elegant rhythm to the piece, subtly refracting light across its surface and creating a warm, inviting glow. The glass's translucent quality highlights the artisanal touch, making it both functional and visually striking.
The reeded brass fittings provide a perfect contrast to the glass, adding warmth and a luxurious accent while maintaining a sleek and minimalist silhouette. The combination of opulent materials and clean design lines makes this sconce a quintessential representation of Mid-Century Modernist elegance paired with Italian craftsmanship.
Newly rewired to American Standards, this sconce accommodates one edison base bulb achieving up to 100 watts of light. In Excellent Vintage Condition, this rare piece by Barovier y Toso is both a functional lighting fixture and a true work of art. Ideal for adding refined sophistication to a dining room, living room, or hallway, this sconce captures the essence of 1960s design innovation.
