Description
This exceptionally rare floor lamp model is delightfully distinctive, and while it carries the essential Swedish design elements and ideals, it is unique in all sense of the word.
This model B7216 floor lamp's organic fabric shade is reminiscent of a hot air balloon. The shape has many advantages, as a spherical shape is the most efficient volume to surface ratio. The light fabric is delicate enough to let the boning show, especially when the light is turned on. The shade diffuses the light evenly, and thanks to the brass joints, the shade can be freely adjusted on the vertical axis and be focused. The organically shaped shade is contrasted by black lacquered metal structure with its brass details. This trio of materials is brilliant - the polished brass quite literally - accentuating each other successfully. The subtle elements showcase Boréns’s attention to the smallest detail, such as the brass ring on the circular base, and the shade’s adjusting mechanism. The Swedish company, Boréns manufactured this lamp with outmost care for its quality. The company was amongst the most renowned Swedish lighting manufacturers during the mid-century era, working with some of the most well-known Scandinavian designers. This rare floor lamp shows the great success these international collaborations brought by.
The stunning fabric shade’s boning and the decorative shape are nods to the long and celebrated history of Swedish arts and crafts, and these elements give this model its unique look. Combined with the black lacquered and brass elements, the design offers a variety of points of visual interest beyond the impeccable quality.
