The "Scarpa" white plaster table lamps by Dan Schneiger, created circa 2023, are stunning embodiments of modern abstract sculpture transformed into functional art. Crafted with wood, plaster, and resin, these lamps are finished with a hand-painted white plaster that highlights the textural and relief qualities of each unique design.
Drawing inspiration from the abstract work of Louise Nevelson, each lamp in the Scarpa series features an intricate cast relief that adds a depth of character and an element of surprise to the otherwise minimalist aesthetic. The inclusion of brass elements—stem, socket, harp, and finial—introduces a touch of classic elegance to the modern silhouette, while the rotary on/off knob on the socket adds a convenient functional detail.
Each lamp is designed to accommodate one standard base light bulb, offering a warm glow to any interior space. Please note that the lamps are sold separately and without shades, allowing for personal customization upon acquisition.
Measuring 31 inches in height, 6.5 inches in width, and 4.5 inches in depth, with the base standing at 19 inches, the Scarpa lamps possess a commanding presence despite their slender form. They are an artful addition to any room, speaking to Schneiger's multifaceted practice that straddles architecture and art.
Dan Schneiger's approach to design is eco-conscious, utilizing a blend of found objects and construction debris to create his pieces, preventing these materials from ending up in landfills. His commitment to environmentally responsible practices is matched by his dedication to innovation, resulting in lighting that is both aesthetically pleasing and ethically produced.
For those interested in owning a piece of Schneiger's artistry, the Scarpa lamps offer a chance to infuse daily living with sculptural brilliance, bringing the dialogue between art and architecture into the intimate setting of a home or office. -
