Description
Designed by Ib Fabiansen for the Danish manufacturer Fog & Mørup in 1960, this pendant lamp features a conical shade constructed from natural rope. The woven texture is bisected by a prominent central band of solid teak, with additional teak elements at the crown. When illuminated, the rope fibers create a warm, textured diffusion of light. This example remains in its original packaging, representing a rare preservation of mid-century Scandinavian functionalism.
Ib Fabiansen (b. 1928) is a Danish architect and designer distinguished by his innovative use of organic, textured materials within geometric frameworks. His 1960s tenure with Fog & Mørup resulted in several celebrated designs that explored the interplay between light and natural surfaces, such as wood veneer and jute rope. Fabiansen’s work is characterized by a structural clarity that emphasizes the inherent beauty of craft-based assembly methods. -
