Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte: Important Chandelier in Curved Glass, Italy 1964
-
Description
Max Ingrand (1908 - 1969) for Fontana Arte
A large and important 18-bulb chandelier by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, oblong in shape; in frosted and colored glass with polished brass mounts. A long V-shaped body with a rounded base, in frosted glass illuminated by six hidden bulbs which softly diffuse the light and make the glass glow from within, is capped by thick V-shaped mounts in polished brass. Two significant wings, in exquisitely curved colored glass, arch over and around the entire length of the body, creating a beautifully elongated ovoid silhouette. They enclose an additional 12 bulbs. Impressive in size and pure in design, the work stands out in Ingrand's catalogue for its striking modernity.
Italy, 1964.
