Description
This table lamp originates from France and dates to the late 1930s. It features a geometric wooden base with a distinctly architectural character typical of the period.
The oak base consists of a faceted column set on a stepped, geometric plinth and is finished in a slightly darker stain. The angular relief and pronounced grain give the lamp a strong, sculptural presence, reflecting Cubist influences within the late Art Deco vocabulary. The lamp is fitted with a new square shade, whose clean lines echo the cubic form of the base. The shade is made from an elegant ivory Métaphores fabric. The finely textured textile provides a refined, neutral contrast while offering a soft and even light distribution.
This listing is for one table lamp. A second example of the same model exists and is shown in one of the images for reference; however, it features a slightly lighter stained oak base. As such, the two lamps do not form a strictly matching pair, though a complementary second example is available.
The lamp is in good condition, has been rewired, and is currently fitted with 220V European wiring and a standard E26/E27 bulb fitting.
